Branson, Missouri

Branson, Missouri, a town of 3,706 full-time residents and hundreds of thousands of visitors all year long, is only a short distance from the South Shore. Branson is best known for its many music and variety show entertainment theaters which offer country and popular music shows suitable for the entire family. A famous theme park, Silver Dollar City, offers more family fun, rides, food, crafts and more music. Branson is also an outlet shopping mecca. Founded in 1881, the city of Branson was on the shore of White River, now Lake Taneycomo, thanks to a flood-control reservoir project. Many enjoy visiting historic downtown Branson during their visit. The creator of the "Kewpie" doll, Rose O'Neill, lived at Branson; and her reconstructed home, Bonniebrook, can be visited eight miles north of Branson.
