Start the Bull Shoals Vacation Tour six miles north of Mountain Home on Arkansas Highway 5 at Midway. Take Hwy. 178 west to Lakeview, then across the top of Bull Shoals Dam, one of the biggest concrete dams in the country. Stop to tour the new James A. Gaston Visitor Center with dramatic exhibits about fishing, area history, and construction of Bull Shoals Dam. Free admission, open daily 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. (5 p.m. winter hours). Phone 870-445-3629. Bull Shoals Lake, with 1,000 miles of shoreline and 71,000 acres of surface, is your destination.
