Flippin Students Help G&FC Tag Trout
April 2003

A team of nine Flippin Middle School science club students recently assisted with a fish-tagging program for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

The students and their science teacher, Marilyn Ply aided fisheries biologists John Stewart, Jeff Hulen and Marla Smallman in placing tags in approximately 1,500 of the 8,000 rainbow trout that are to be released in Bull Shoals Lake in April.

The tagging operation is ongoing and is conducted at the G&FC net pens at Pot Shoals.

In addition to the tagging, the students were given a tour of the facility and the opportunity to assist with the daily feeding.

Participating volunteers were all eight-graders and included Justin Schroder, Kelvin Stoner, Brittney Cunningham, Allon Ellis, Justin Carter, Neshae Dilday, Crystal Crosslin, Justin Matthews and J.P. Stewart.
