Patricia Bailey, the vice chancellor for academic and student
affairs at Arkansas State University Mountain Home, is a new member
of the South Shore Foundation Board of Directors. South Shore Foundation
Chairman Jodie Elizabeth Jeffrey made the announcement.
A resident of Mountain Home for the past 12 years, Dr. Bailey
grew up in Oklahoma. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology
and political science and a Master of Science in counseling and
psychology, both from Northeastern State University at Tahlequah,
Okla. She earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of
Arkansas in counselor education and leadership.
At ASUMH, Dr. Bailey supervises academic affairs, admissions,
registration, institutional research, library, continuing education,
and student services. Prior to joining the ASUMH administration,
she was employed at North Arkansas College in Harrison for 16 years.
Dr. Bailey said she accepted the three-year
appointment to the South Shore Foundation Board because she agrees
with its mission for the area it serves of advancing education,
economic development, and protecting the environment. She took
note of actions the board took in its last two meetings. “From sending students to
Girls and Boys State, helping young people train for the nursing
profession, and training the future leaders of our area, the South
Shore Foundation is laying a foundation for an even better tomorrow,” she
said.
Dr. Bailey is currently president of the Mountain Home Area Chamber
of Commerce, a commissioner of Ozark Regional Airport, and a member
and past president of Rotary Club in Mountain Home. She and her
husband, Frank, reside in Mountain Home, as does her mother, Elizabeth
Nicholson, and mother-in-law, Leone Bailey.
The South Shore Foundation Board consists
of 11 members who are leaders in business, education, and government
in the area served by the foundation’s parent company,
Northern Arkansas Telephone Company (NATCO), surrounding Flippin.
The board meets quarterly and accepts applications from nonprofit
organizations for grants between $250 and $25,000. For more information
or a grant application, call 1-800-775-6682.
