Six graduating seniors from area high schools received 2012 South Shore Foundation Academic Scholarships of $1,000 each. South Shore Foundation is the charitable foundation of  NATCO Communications in Flippin. School administration officials select their school’s recipient from applicants based upon their academic records and achievements.

Evan “Jake” Gray of Bergman High School served as Senior Class President, FBLA President, Key Club President and Student Council President. He was captain of the senior basketball team, a member of the baseball team and active in Spanish Club and National Honor Society. He plans to attend University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and major in English.

Chelsea Lin Wilson of Bruno-Pyatt High School was involved in softball and Interact Club, served as Senior Class President and was the recipient of the Mathematics Award and Student of the Year Award. She plans to attend North Arkansas College and study Education.

Tanner Brannon of Flippin High School was active in National Honor Society, baseball, and trap shooting. He served as Senior Class President and was the recipient of the Arkansas Art Educators “Best of Show” Award. He plans to study at University of Central Arkansas where he will be Pre-Med.

Jessica Hope Stovall of Omaha High School participated in basketball, BETA Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Mu Alpha Theta, choir, track, Student Council, Quiz Bowl and was the recipient of awards for AP English, US History, Chemistry, French and Algebra. She plans to attend Williams Baptist College where she will study Psychology.

Porter Avise of Yellville-Summit was named All-Conference in track, was active in Rotary Youth Leadership and South Shore Youth Leadership teams, and was recipient of the High School Best Citizen Award. He plans to attend Arkansas State University in Mountain Home.

Coy Joseph Lemon of Lead Hill High School participated in basketball, baseball, track, 4-H, youth group and the Lead Hill Saddle Club. He was Valedictorian, Senior Class President and a member of National Honor Society. He plans to study Physical Therapy at North Arkansas College.

South Shore Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization working to enhance the quality of life in the South Shore - Bull Shoals Lake - Arkansas region.  South Shore Foundation awards scholarships for academic achievers in each area school district and promotes education for all ages. The Foundation values the natural environment as a basis for the South Shore way of life and believes technology and telecommunications can be employed to advance economic opportunity and community betterment.
