Dr. David E. Land of Harrison, superintendent of Omaha Public
Schools, is rejoining the South Shore Foundation Board, the charitable
division of NATCO Communications in Flippin. The term is for three
years. Dr. Land was a charter member of the foundation board in
1996 and served several years previously.
Dr. Land has been in the field of education
for 40 years, spending 18 of those years working at Omaha. He
earned his academic undergraduate and graduate degrees at the
University of Arkansas, including a bachelor’s in arts and education, master’s in education,
specialist’s in education, and doctorate in education. He
graduated from Walnut Ridge High School.
Speaking about his past and future service
on the South Shore Foundation Board, Dr. Land said, “It’s
an honor to be a part of the South Shore Foundation that provides
funds for improving the wellbeing of area communities.”
Dr. Land is involved with the University of Arkansas Alumni Association,
Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators, Arkansas School
Board Association, Arkansas Rural Education Association, and the
School Study Council. The longtime superintendent is a Baptist.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and traveling. He has one
son residing in California.
The South Shore Foundation awards grants to
nonprofit agencies for projects of educational advancement, environmental
preservation, and economic development. It funds college and
vocational scholarships for Marion, Boone, and Baxter county
students.
