Jodie Elizabeth Jeffrey, a charter member
of the South Shore Foundation Board of Directors, completed her
service on the board at the end of her term. Ms. Jeffrey is the
co-owner of Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing and Computer Store in Mountain
Home and previously worked as sales and marketing manager of
NATCO’s deregulated business side
from 1981-85.
As the retiring board chairman, Ms. Jeffrey saluted
NATCO for establishing South Shore Foundation and funding its work
for the past decade. "NATCO has been a responsible voice in advancing
education, preserving the environment, and promoting economic development
for the South Shore area," she stated.
Ms. Jeffrey served on the board since mid-1997. She was chairman
throughout her 10 years on the board. Since its founding, the board
made grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies for more than
$650,000.
The former chairman said, “All three major goals of the
South Shore Foundation were of equal interest to me.” Highlights
of her service on the South Shore Foundation Board, she said, were
ongoing support for the Audubon Adventures project and granting
$25,000 toward construction of the Fred Berry Conservation and
Education Center at Yellville.
The Audubon Adventures project is sponsored
by the North Central Arkansas chapter of the Audubon Society
to provide elementary students and their teachers ecology kits
for classrooms in Flippin, Yellville-Summit, Bruno-Pyatt, Bergman,
Lead Hill and Omaha schools. "I agree
with them that if children learn about the environment early in
their life, they are more likely to care about its importance later."
Additional community activities of Ms. Jeffrey include serving
as president of Mountain Home Rotary Club, vice president of Baxter
Regional Hospital Foundation Board, and a member of Mountain Home
Good Samaritan Village Advisory Board.
NATCO is an independent, family-owned telecommunications company,
since 1951.
It serves portions of Marion and Boone Counties with six telephone
exchanges: Flippin, Bull
Shoals, Diamond City, Lead Hill, Omaha, and Pyatt. For information
