Leaders Promote Education
May
2005
Three members
of the South Shore Marion County Adult Leadership Team entered the
classrooms of eighth grade students recently at Yellville-Summit
Middle School to promote the South Shore Arkansas Scholars program.
From left at the front of this classroom are Tera Payne of Arvest
Bank, Misty Krug, also of Arvest Bank, and Mike Rotenberry of Ranger
Boats. They showed a Power Point presentation and answered questions
about the earning power of people with various levels of education
and expenses students would have when they are young adults. South
Shore Arkansas Scholars are students who achieve grades no lower
than Cs, take courses that prepare them for higher education after
high school, and have 95% attendance throughout their high school
years. South Shore Schools in Marion County start the South Shore
Arkansas Scholars program next fall for high school students who
wish to participate. For more information about South Shore Arkansas
Scholars, contact Rotenberry of the South Shore Adult Leadership
Team in Marion County, at 870-453-2222.
