South
Shore Foundation Funds Computer, Internet at Diamond City Community
Library
October 2000
South Shore Foundation recently granted $2,680 to Diamond City
to help modernize the Diamond City Community Library. The grant
will purchase a computer with Internet access and provide one year
of Fast Net high speed Internet service utilizing ISDN through
Natco Technologies for the Diamond City Community Library.
According to Troy Burleson, special projects director for Diamond
City, a library committee chaired by Hedy Jaynes has been very
active in their volunteer efforts to enhance the library. They
are setting up a new audio-visual section in the library with Internet
at a computer station as well as a cassette and CD player with
headphones for listening to audio books. Additional shelves for
hardback books and round tables for adults and children are planned
to better serve Lead Hill, Diamond City, northern Marion and Boone
counties, the youth of the area and visitors.
South Shore Foundation is the charitable foundation of Northern
Arkansas Telephone Company. The foundation makes grants to nonprofit
agencies to advance education, preserve the environment, develop
the local economy, and assist in community betterment. NATCO President
Steven G. Sanders chairs the board of trustees. For more information
