Community Project Benefits Airport
May, 1999
Students from the Heavy Equipment class at North Arkansas College,
Harrison, are obtaining practical experience while they contribute
to the development of the Marion County Regional Airport. The dirt
work being done by the students provides savings for the airport
under the Arkansas Aeronautics Department's $100,000 grant to extend
the runway at the Marion County Regional Airport to 5,000 feet. The
airport project has received contributions from the cities of Flippin
and Yellville, Marion County Quorum Court, the Marion County judge,
and the South Shore Foundation. Airport Board Chairman John Dyess
said Ranger Boats has also been supportive of the airport operation.
