Opening
Remarks:
Mark called the meeting to order at 5:30 and minutes
from the February 24, 2004 meeting were reviewed.
Correction on the last page of Randy’s e-mail
address: rlivingston@arvest.com.
A motion was made by Roger and seconded by Bill
to approve the minutes with the correction, and
the motion passed unanimously.
Web
Site/E-Mail/Address:
Steven discussed with the group the possibility
of the Adult Leadership Team having a link from
South Shore to our own web page. He can also set
us up with our own e-mail address. Currently the
Youth Leadership Team has their own web page that
Renee Meyers coordinates for them. It will take
a couple of weeks to get the web site going because
of design and layout time but the e-mail address
can be set up quickly. Next question was who would
be responsible for checking any incoming e-mail
and Mark agreed he would. A motion was made by Mark
and seconded by Randy that we create the web site
and get an e-mail address for our Adult Leadership
Team and the motion passed unanimously.
ACE Update:
On
March 5th at NATCO, Randy met with the Youth Leadership
and described what ACE is and asked for their help.
They are willing to help but just need to know in
what way we need them. Becky Rheinhardt has sent
us additional promotional information about what
ACE is and just a general description about it.
Roger has written an introduction to this ACE description
and those combined will appear as our next publication
in the Mountaineer Echo. Randy will be finishing
the article over this next weekend and he will have
a few additional leadership members review this
with him before he turns it over to the Mountaineer
Echo for print. Bill discussed the possibility of
adding recreation as one of the components for ACE.
Most felt that recreation would be included in the
tourism component. Randy reiterated that ACE is
an ongoing project and that even once we do get
certified, you still have to be recertified every
three years. There is going to be an ACE mini-conference
in Little Rock on March 30th from 11:30 to 4:30
and the only charge is $25 per community. If anyone
would like to attend this conference, please see
Randy immediately.
Sign
Project:
Dana
has prepared a small version of our sign. All agreed
that it looked great. We are still having a problem
finding a landowner that will allow us to put this
sign on their property. Bev is going to ask Walter
McNew if he would allow us to use his property.
New Class Organization:
Eve
is working on the agenda for this year’s class.
She has the first meeting scheduled for August 31st.
Most of the meetings will stay the same as last
year with the addition of a ropes course. She is
looking at several options. The ropes course in
Little Rock is the most expensive at $900 for 20
people and an additional charge of $40 per person
over 20. A second choice is the Jones Center in
Springdale. Their charge is only $400 for 45 people
to attend. A third option is Shepherd of the Ozarks,
which is $625. This class will need to be scheduled
on a Saturday simply for timing issues. She needs
nominations for applicants. She has 2 individuals
who have already completed their application. Eve
has spoke with Joe Waldren and he mentioned again
the LeadAR program. No one from Marion County has
ever applied before and he would like to see someone
apply. It is a 64-day commitment over two years.
Adjournment:
The
meeting ended around 6:40. Our next meeting was
set for April 20th and Mark will be coordinating
a new location for that meeting.
