Hot Deals and Vacation Packages now on Arkansas.com

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism recently added to its official tourism Web site, www.arkansas.com, a section promoting special travel discounts and vacation packages. An icon placed prominently on the site's homepage links to the new feature.

In the hot deals section, visitors can find discounts such as mid-week or seasonal specials at lodging establishments across the state. "This new section really benefits both the consumer and the business," said Jay Harrod, communications manager at Arkansas Parks and Tourism. "For instance, say a bed and breakfast owner has an unexpected, last-minute vacancy. Rather than let the room remain vacant, the owner could drop the price and advertise it to bargain hunters on the hot deals page."

Web viewers can also use the site to shop for vacation packages, which are listed under one of the following categories: spas; golf; outdoor sports & adventure; history & heritage; attractions & shows; and romance.

Arkansas Parks and Tourism also recently added a new feature that allows visitors to search by keyword the site's entire contents. This tool is prominently placed at the top of the www.arkansas.com homepage.
