The Baxter
Regional Medical Center at Mountain Home is a 268-bed hospital. Baxter Regional has more than 100 physicians
on staff with many specialties represented. The hospital includes a new cardiac
care unit. A free-standing cancer treatment center, CARTI
Mountain Home, is located inside a wing of the hospital. 870-508-1000.
The
Community Medical Center of Izard County at Calico Rock is a critical access
Medicare approved hospital with 25 beds. Physician staffed 24/7 emergency room
services are available. Clinics in Calico Rock, Melbourne, and Horseshoe Bend
have five physicians and one nurse practitioner. Home health and hospice services
are available, along with medical, endoscopic, and surgical services. Construction
is in progress, scheduled to be completed in April 2007, with a new entrance,
emergency room, and surgical suites. Watch us grow!
North
Arkansas Regional Medical Center at Harrison also serves Flippin
residents and businesses. Located about 30 miles to the west, the hospital has
174 beds and 49 active medical staff physicians. The hospital includes the Claude

United Community Resource Council
Besides the professionals listed above, a group of area social service providers has constructed a resource to help people who need specialized help contact those that can provide it.
The United Community Resource Council is composed of
fifteen area organizations working to bring together a wide variety of services for residents of north central Arkansas. Their Web site,
www.twinlakescommunity.org, was created to provide a comprehensive, accurate Web site, linking area, state and federal resources.
This site is especially useful for school counselors, teachers, ministers, volunteers, social workers, nurses, physicians, employers, neighbors, family members, friends and those in need of assistance.
