Bull
Shoals Lake/White River Chamber Adds Internet Station for Members,
Public
October 1999
The
Bull Shoals Lake-White River Chamber of Commerce now offers Internet
access for its members and the public at its office in Bull Shoals,
according to Millie Graham, chamber president. The chamber has provided
the new computer equipment and Internet service through a combination
of chamber funds and a grant from the South Shore Foundation of
Flippin, the charitable foundation of Northern Arkansas Telephone
Company.
Members of the
Bull Shoals Lake-White River Chamber of Commerce who do not have
Internet service are invited to use the chamber's Internet station.
Area residents and visitors are also invited to acquaint themselves
with the Internet, research the Web sites of local businesses, research
other topics of interest, and send e-mail from the Bull Shoals Lake-White
River Chamber office. The chamber office will have FastNet service
from NATCO Technologies, which is an ISDN (high-speed) digital,
two-channel telephone line. The grant from South Shore Foundation
provides Internet service for 26 months.
"Using
the Internet is a great way for visitors to locate accommodations,
boating equipment, or other needs once they arrive here," Mrs.
Graham said. "Tourists may come to our office, look at our
Web site and those of our members, and contact our members electronically,
if they wish."
The Internet
station will be available to members and the public in the morning,
when chamber staff members are present, Mrs. Graham said. The office
is staffed weekdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. When
available, volunteers staff the office weekdays until 5 p.m.
The Bull Shoals
Lake-White River Chamber of Commerce, with approximately 125 members,
serves the Bull Shoals Lake and White River areas with an office
on Highway 178 in Bull Shoals, P.O. Box 354, Bull Shoals 72619;
870-445-4443. Their e-mail address is havefun@bullshoals.org.
