Marion County high schools and the South
Shore Marion County Adult Leadership Team invite you
to become involved with a great program - South Shore
Arkansas Scholars™. Through recognition and incentives
from businesses like yours, South Shore Arkansas Scholars
gives teens reasons to do well during the critical years
of high school.
Flippin, Yellville-Summit, and Bruno-Pyatt
schools are participants in South Shore Arkansas Scholars.
Students who participate receive South Shore Arkansas
Scholar identification cards to use for privileges at
school and in area businesses which support the South
Shore Arkansas Scholars program. The schools invite
you to offer the qualifying students incentives such
as a discount or free item when they patronize your
business. If you do not have many teen-age customers,
a financial donation to support special events the Leadership
group holds for the students would be very welcome.
When a student graduates as a South
Shore Arkansas Scholar, the high school transcript has
a special Arkansas Scholars sticker. The Arkansas Business
and Education Alliance urges Arkansas firms to ask for
high school transcripts and, when hiring, give consideration
to students who were Arkansas Scholars during high school.
To qualify as a South Shore Arkansas
Scholar, a student must complete required courses, maintain
semester grades of “C” or better in all
courses, attend school 95% of the time, and finish high
school in eight consecutive semesters. With your assistance,
we can provide incentives that will encourage them to
achieve their goal. Students achieving these goals will
develop skills that help them be good employees later
- so we all benefit from their contribution to our communities!
About 90 school districts have participated
in Arkansas Scholars, which was founded by the Arkansas
Business and Education Alliance in 1997. The South Shore
Marion County Adult Leadership Team spearheads South
Shore Arkansas Scholars in Marion County, and South
Shore Foundation is a sponsor for local planning and
publicity.
Please join other area businesses in
supporting South Shore Arkansas Scholars.
