South
Shore Driving Tour Brochure Captures Award
August 1998
A Mountain Home marketing company is among the award winners in
the 10th Annual Awards for Publications Excellence. Brooks-Jeffrey
Marketing won a Grand Award in the brochures category. The winning
brochure was "South Shore Driving Tour," produced for
Northern Arkansas Telephone
Company and its charitable foundation, South
Shore Foundation. The winning brochure features a custom
map of the Marion-Boone County area and nearly two dozen color photographs
of scenery, businesses, and tourist attractions. Photos include
shopping sites, boat docks, lake scenes, camping parks and community
facilities. It is printed on coated paper and measures 13 x 21 1/2
fully unfolded. The award for the brochure came in the "Tourist,
Economic Development & Community Image" category. The brochures
are available at Arkansas Tourist Information Centers, chambers
of commerce and businesses in the NATCO service area.
The idea for the brochure originated with NATCO President Steven
Sanders, who wanted to promote the beauty of the Marion-Boone county
countryside, beckoning tourists off the main roads and into the
communities of the area and the south shore of Bull Shoals Lake.
Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing produced a map of the area and custom-detailed
it with features unique to the area. South Shore Driving Tour brochure
was first produced by BJM in 1995, then was updated, redesigned,
and the map listing expanded in 1997. Reprints occurred in 1996
and 1997.
Sanders said businesses that distribute the brochure are pleased
to be able to give tourists a professionally-designed map of the
area featuring local people and attractions. "There is really
nothing else like this," he commented. He said he hopes the
brochure contributes to the economy of the area his family's telephone
company serves.
BJM President Shannon Brooks said her company is glad to have worked
on the project, primarily because it salutes the efforts of NATCO
and its charitable foundation, South Shore Foundation. "They
work for the benefit of their customers in so many ways. This brochure
is a big project, and it has done a lot of good for tourism in the
area. We know it is being used because of the need for reprints."
NATCO has been an independent, family-owned and operated business
since 1951. Its headquarters is at 301 East Main St. in Flippin.
The company serves a 658 square-mile area, which includes portions
of Marion, Boone, and Carroll Counties.
